Dignity welcomes two fine insertions from Joann Hutchinson. The first one  is about a toll exemption law for people with driving disabilities. Dignity president, Denny Wood, was at the legislature, helping when necessary, seeing the bill  get through committees.

It passed twice. Not too many people remember the first passage. Some "clever" legislators placed an amendment on the bill exempting rural mail carriers and police from the seat belt law. Governor Martinez vetoed the bill over the amendment.

The following year, it was refiled, by the same sponsor, and it passed, without amendments and went into law.

The second Florida D.O. T. contribution, is about an amendment Denny Wood dreamed up at the 1994 State Legislature. It simply provided a financial check off contribution when people renewed their auto tag.

People could donate money to special disabled transportation programs when they renewed their auto tags. The down side is that ALL auto tag agencies do not have a poster explaining the language on the registration forms.

The general public is invited to ask their local auto tag agencies where the state supplied D.O. T. provided posters are, and why they are not visable to the general public.
