1. Pass the Equal Rights Amendment.

 

2. Rewrite the disabled parking eligibility law.

 

3. Stop doctors from denying office visits to "workers compensation"

    Medicaid, and Medicare clients who are people with disabilities.

 

4. Address Chapter 553, and bring the handrail in accessible stalls back

    to 33 inches plus or minus a half inch.

 

5. Address Chapter 553, and put the access aisle on the passenger side

    of single disabled parking space to accommodate quadriplegic drivers.

 

6  Pass legislation to hire over 50% of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors

    who have substancial physical disabilities.

 

 7. Pass legislation requiring minimum ADA access standards in all

     new business licenses.

 

8.   Pass legislation to hire people with substantial disabilities into

     State Government  and the political subdivisions of government in

     the State of Florida. These job ready persons with substancial

     disabilities will be listed with the Division of Vocational

     Rehabilitation, who will follow them in employment, provide

     co-counseling and monitor their progress and advancement.

     The goal is to reduce the list of unemployed

     people with disabilities and make them taxpayers.

 

9. Re-introduce legislation that was vetoed regarding quadriplegics in 2006.

    This is on this web site in Archives 2006.

 

10. Pass legislation allowing people with disabilities to retain their

     Medicaid Coverage in employment in the private sector,

     taking medical insurance out of hiring and making

     it a plus for the employer.

 

11. Defend Chapter 553 and prevent any roll backs of our fine Access Law.

 

This list will continue up to the beginning of the State Legislature.

These goals are being established by the Florida Paraplegic

Association, Inc.
